We are delighted to share a new partnership that truly reflects our mission: helping young people overcome barriers and unlock their full potential. This time, we’re working closely with the wonderful team at Salford Business School to support students who might otherwise struggle to access the resources they need to thrive.

Thanks to a £20,000 commitment from the Jim Jackson Foundation, ten Salford Business School students will receive scholarships designed to ease financial pressure and help them stay focused on what matters most - their education and their future.

At the Jim Jackson Foundation, everything we do is rooted in the belief that opportunity should never be dictated by circumstance. Many talented students face obstacles that can make university life incredibly challenging, from managing living costs to affording essential learning tools.

This new initiative at the University of Salford aims to change that.

These scholarships will support students from widening participation backgrounds: those who may encounter financial, social, or personal barriers that affect their access to higher education. By offering meaningful financial support, we’re helping ensure that students don’t have to choose between studying and simply getting by.

We’re proud that our funding will provide ten scholarships worth £2,000 each, supporting students across the 2025/26 academic year. Support will be delivered through the JS Group Aspire platform, giving students access to vital resources such as textbooks, technology, and specialist equipment.

This practical support can make a huge difference - reducing financial stress, enabling students to spend less time working part-time, and giving them more space to focus on their learning, development, and wellbeing.

The team at Salford Business School has expressed just how valuable this support will be.

Sophie Thorp, Head of Philanthropy, Alumni and Support Engagement, shared:
