Jim Jackson Foundation Partners with the University of Brighton to Open Doors for Aspiring Business Students

We’re delighted to share news of our new partnership between The Jim Jackson Foundation and the University of Brighton, helping talented young people from our local area take the next step into higher education.

Starting in the 2026/27 academic year, two students enrolling on undergraduate Business degrees at the University’s School of Business and Law will each receive a £6,000 scholarship (£2,000 per year over three years). These awards are designed to support students from Further Education (FE) colleges across the South East who have real potential but face barriers, either financial, social, or personal, that make the path to university more difficult.

At The Jim Jackson Foundation, we believe opportunity shouldn’t depend on circumstance. These new scholarships will offer encouragement at a key moment, helping students grow in confidence and realise their potential.

Catherine Robinson, Dean of the University of Brighton School of Business and Law said: " The University of Brighton is delighted to announce this partnership with The Jim Jackson Foundation to make these transformative scholarships a reality. Our goal is simple: to ensure that every student, regardless of their financial or personal circumstances, feels welcome and supported here. This funding will give our future Business students the reassurance they need to fully embrace academic life and seize every opportunity the University has to offer."

Alongside the undergraduate scholarships, we’ll also fund four Business Placement Scholarships, each worth £1,250, for current second-year business students. These awards will help cover essential costs like travel, rent, or relocation, so that talented students can gain valuable work experience without financial stress.

This partnership feels particularly special for us. The University of Brighton is local to our base, and Jim Jackson, whose vision continues to inspire our work, lived nearby. Being able to invest in young people right here in his community feels both natural and heartfelt.

“We’re proud to invest in the next generation of leaders through these local scholarships,” said Jill Hill, Founder and Chair of The Jim Jackson Foundation. “This initiative reflects our commitment to the transformative power of education and our mission to create equitable opportunities for all young people.”

We’re thrilled to be working with the University of Brighton to make higher education more accessible to local students and to open doors that might otherwise stay closed. It’s a partnership that truly reflects Jim’s belief in giving young people the tools and confidence to succeed, no matter where they start.
