Jim Jackson Scholarship Supports Students to Thrive at Northumbria University

The Jim Jackson Educational and Enabling Foundation proudly supported eight students from Northumbria University’s Newcastle Business School with hardship scholarships during the 2024–25 academic year.

Each student received £2,500 to help cover essential costs such as course materials, travel, and professional development opportunities. This support eased financial pressure and enabled them to focus on their studies and career ambitions.

Ella (MSc Business & Management) shared: “Receiving the scholarship has eased the pressure of juggling multiple part-time jobs with full-time study. I was able to dedicate more time to my course, become a course representative, lead group projects, and attend career fairs. Thanks to this support, I grew in confidence and applied my learning in my part-time craft and design work.”

Eleanor (BSc (Hons) Business & Marketing) said: “The scholarship has allowed me to reduce my work hours and fully focus on my studies, especially a Consultancy Clinic module. I am now preparing to pursue a Masters in Brand Management and enjoyed my final year in the Dance Society.”

Kaitlyn (BSc (Hons) Business & Marketing) reflected: “The scholarship relieved financial pressure and enabled me to become a Chartered Marketer by funding extra qualifications with CIM. I also attended an Adobe HQ experience in London, thanks to the Foundation’s support. These opportunities helped me secure a job at a marketing agency after graduation.”

The Foundation was established in memory of Jim Jackson, a successful businessman who overcame adversity and was passionate about mentoring young people facing challenges. His legacy lives on through these scholarships, which help students from under-represented backgrounds unlock their potential.
